Ivy Garmon

Greetings, Parents, Students, and Community Members.

I am excited to be a part of Mount Pleasant Community Schools and would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about myself.  This is my first year teaching Life Skills at Van Allen. However, I bring with me over 20 years of helping fields experience and a varied educational history.  In 2002, I entered special education and have taught extensively in a Living Skills Classroom.

My degrees include a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Clinical Psychology and Sociology from Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Missouri, and a Master of Education (M.Ed)  from William Woods University, in Fulton, Missouri. I attended Buena Vista University (Ottumwa Campus) in 2002, where I obtained my Iowa teaching certifications.

My current Iowa teaching certifications include: Grades 5-12 (Special Education) Instructional Strategist I:  Mild/Moderate Disabilities (Standard License), Grades K-12 (Special Education) Instructional Strategist II (Class B License), Early Childhood Special Education (Class B License), Grade 5-12 Psychology (Regular Classroom, Standard License) and Grade 5-12 Sociology (Regular Classroom, Standard License).

Additionally, I hold other state certifications for Early Childhood Special Education, K-12 LD Special Education, K-12 Multi-categorical Special Education, K-3 Elementary Education and 9-12 Social Studies.

I look forward to a great year with your child.  Please do not hesitate to call, email, or arrange a meeting with me if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions.
