Ann Sartorius

I am a 6th and 7th grade science teacher at Mt. Pleasant Community Middle School. I thoroughly enjoy teaching and working with my students. I am committed to my students and their learning. I try to incorporate problem solving and inquiry into my science classes as much as possible.

In 1983, I graduated from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa with a degree in Elementary Education and a coaching endorsement. I received my master’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Iowa in 1997.  I began my teaching career in 1983 at Mormon Trail Community School District in Humeston, Iowa. There I taught 5th grade for one year. From 1984-1987, I taught 7th and  8th grade math at the Mt. Pleasant Jr. High in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; from 1987-1990 I taught 7th and 8th grade math at the Itasca Jr. High in Itasca, Illinois; and from 1990-1992 I taught 7th and 8th grade math at Prior Lake Jr. High in Prior Lake, Minnesota. During the summer of 1992, my family and I moved back to my home town, Mt. Pleasant. From 1992-1994, I taught 6th grade at Van Allen Elementary. Beginning the fall of 1994 to the present, I have taught 6th and 7th grade science at the Mt. Pleasant Community Middle School.

Besides teaching, I am also involved in the coaching of extra-curricular sports. I am currently coaching 7th grade girls’ track and volleyball.

My husband and I have three children - Jessica, Makenzie, and Brady, and one grandson, Julian.  In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, and attending my son's sporting events.
