Sandy Breazeale

4th Grade

Hi! I am Sandy Breazeale and I am very proud to be an educator. I chose teaching as my second career. After graduating from Buena Vista University in 2001, as a non-traditional student, my next year was spent gaining experience in long-term substitute positions in Kindergarten , 1st , 4th , and high school (Accounting, Business, and Computer) in WACO and Mt. Pleasant. The fall of 2002, I began teaching 4th grade at Van Allen Elementary School and have called it home ever since. In 2006, my master's degree in education from Viterbo University was completed.

I love my family, which includes my husband, Bob, and two grown daughters, Becca and Rachel; adventure and pets.  My hobbies include drawing, reading, and anything to do with animals. Since 2007 I have been the weekend caregiver to the animals who call the Henry County Nature Center, at Oakland Mills Park, home. My newest hobby started in 2009 after both my mother and my 4th grade student were diagnosed with cancer. In their honor, I began skydiving to raise money for the Cancer Society in an event called Skydive for Cancer, in Ottawa, IL. I plan to continue skydiving each fall for as long as possible.

I truly enjoy my subject matter and its content, but my students are my most important reasons for teaching and I am committed to helping them succeed. I can't imagine a more rewarding or challenging career that affords me the opportunity to work with so many wonderful families from Mt. Pleasant and our surrounding communities.
